This real-world event mirrors the spiritual truth in Zechariah 7:12 about the danger of hardening our hearts against God’s law. When people make their hearts as hard as stone, refusing to obey God’s Word, divine wrath inevitably follows. The trap many fall into is assuming that when judgment does not happen immediately, consequences will never arrive. Our supporting scripture in 1 Timothy 5:24 explains: “Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.” Duane “Keffe D” Davis likely thought he had evaded justice after decades, yet at age 63, he was finally called to account.
