Day 2 Ember Month Prayer for Divine Protection: Hidden from the Pride of Man and Strife of Tongues (Psalm 31:20)
Date: Thursday, September 10, 2026
Anchor Scripture: Psalm 31:20 — “Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.”
Welcome to Day 2 of our 30-Day Ember Month Prayer of Protection. On Day 1, we established our spiritual standing by entering into the shelter of the Most High and abiding under His shadow. Today, Thursday, September 10, 2026, we advance into specific spiritual warfare target areas. As the final quarter of the year gathers momentum, the spiritual atmosphere often becomes charged with tension, short tempers, arrogance, and confrontation.
In Psalm 31:20, the Psalmist David reveals a profound covenant reality: God possesses a secret pavilion where He hides His children from two lethal end-of-year hazards—the pride of man and the strife of tongues. Unaddressed, these two traps are responsible for sending countless individuals to prison cells, hospital beds, or premature graves during the Ember Months. Today, through targeted intercession, we secure divine immunity against both.
Understanding the First Trap: The Pride of Man
During the Ember Months, dark spiritual forces actively manipulate human egos. The devil deliberately engineers situations where innocent believers cross paths with arrogant, ruthless, or influential individuals who possess power without the fear of God.
How does the pride of man manifest as a trap in this season?
- Engineered Misunderstandings: You may accidentally step on someone’s foot, minorly bump another car in heavy traffic, or have a slight disagreement in business. While you humbly offer an apology, a prideful person takes it as a personal insult and escalates the matter out of malice.
- Abuse of Power & Illegal Arrests: Arrogant individuals often use money or institutional influence to pay law enforcement officers to arrest, harass, or wrongfully detain others. Their primary objective is to ruin your peace, drain your finances, and ensure you spend December inside a detention facility.
- Extreme Malice & Violent Retaliation: At its worst, the unbridled pride of man drives people to hire thugs, kidnappers, or assassins over trivial slights. If you attempt to exchange slaps or match their aggression, the devil escalates the situation into a tragic crisis.
Therefore, we must pray fervently for God to hide us in His secret presence, shielding us from encountering proud, unyielding, and oppressive personalities throughout these Ember Months.

Understanding the Second Trap: The Strife of Tongues
The “strife of tongues” refers to verbal conflict, contentions, heated arguments, slander, insults, false accusations, and harsh words. Words spoken in anger during the Ember Months carry dangerous spiritual weight, acting as catalysts for physical violence and legal troubles.
A Real-Life Example: Highway Altercations and Accidental Discharges
Consider a scenario at a security checkpoint: A police officer pulls over a young driver and demands vehicle registration papers. The driver promptly provides them. The officer asks for a driver’s license; the driver complies. Then, the officer demands to see a fire extinguisher. The young man responds sharply, stating that fire extinguisher checks are the duty of Road Safety officials, not the police.
Infuriated by the verbal response, the officer forcefully drags the young man out of his car. A heated argument breaks out. Seeing the scuffle, another officer nearby cocks his rifle and points it at the driver. In a split second of panic, an accidental discharge occurs—and a young life is cut short. All because of the strife of tongues.
This tragic chain reaction illustrates how quickly minor arguments on highways, in markets, or at workplaces can escalate into fatal tragedies during year-end seasons. If you regularly ply the roads or have family members who travel frequently, praying against the strife of tongues is a non-negotiable spiritual duty.
Strategic Day 2 Prayer Points for Divine Protection
Engage these prayer points with faith and spiritual alertness today. Stand in the gap for yourself, your spouse, your children, and relatives who commute daily.
Section A: Prayers for Repentance and Deliverance from Anger
- Father, I thank You for bringing me safely into Day 2 of this prayer journey. I honor You for Your protective hand over my household.
- Lord, forgive me for every instance where I have engaged in careless words, rash arguments, or prideful exchanges in the past (Psalm 19:14).
- Father, purge my heart of anger, impatience, and pride. Grant me the spirit of wisdom, gentleness, and restraint when confronted by aggressive individuals.
Section B: Prayers Against the Pride of Man and Oppression
- According to Psalm 31:20, O Lord, hide me and my family in the secret of Your presence from the arrogant plots and pride of ungodly men!
- I break every satanic setup designed to push me into misunderstandings with influential or wicked people this season, in Jesus’ name.
- Every agenda of the wicked to use police harassment, wrongful arrests, or illegal detention to lock me up during these Ember Months, backfire by fire!
- I shield my family and assets from assassins, kidnappers, and ruthless adversaries hired by prideful men. We are untouchable by the Blood of Jesus.
Section C: Prayers Against the Strife of Tongues and Road Calamities
- Father, keep me secretly in Your pavilion away from the strife of tongues, toxic altercations, and verbal confrontations on the highways.
- I silence every voice of provocation orchestrated by demonic forces to trigger physical fights, road rage, or lethal arguments!
- I cancel every spirit of accidental discharge, stray bullets, security officer brutality, and sudden highway violence targeting me or my loved ones.
- Every false accusation, slander, and malicious lie spoken to destroy my reputation or land me in prison, be consumed by Holy Ghost fire!
Section D: Declarations of Divine Hiding and Peace
- I decree that my steps and travels throughout September, October, November, and December are guided by divine wisdom and angelic protection.
- Whenever I travel, God’s peace surrounds me. I shall not be a victim of another person’s anger or carelessness on the road.
- I cover all my relatives who ply the roads daily with the precious Blood of Jesus. They shall go out in safety and return in peace.
- Thank You, Lord Jesus, for hiding me in Your secret pavilion. I walk in freedom, peace, and total victory throughout these Ember Months. Amen!
