Daily Reflection: Have We Not All One Father? Breaking the Covenant of Peace
The root cause of disunity, backbiting, and moral decay in modern Christendom stems from a tragic spiritual amnesia: we forget that we have one Father and were created by one God.
In Malachi 2:10, the prophet exposes how mistreating a fellow believer profanes, desecrates, and violates the covenant of our fathers.
This covenant of the fathers is centered on the moral boundaries God established through the Law—most clearly revealed in the Ten Commandments.
These divine laws were given to govern how we honor God and love our fellow human beings.
Even the commandments regulating our worship of God directly protect human welfare, because abandoning God inevitably leads to destructive moral corruption.
In Exodus 32, when Israel made the golden calf, idolatry immediately degenerated into drunkenness, sexual immorality, chaos, and self-destruction.
Similarly, in 2 Kings 21, King Manasseh’s deep plunge into idolatry led him to sacrifice his own son in the fire and shed innocent blood throughout Jerusalem.
Scripture reminds us in Job 35:6–8 that our actions—whether righteous or sinful—directly impact other people like ourselves.
Regrettably, modern believers frequently deal treacherously with one another.
Self-appointed shepherds exploit the sheep they are called to feed, while church members engage in slander, jealousy, financial dishonesty, and moral compromise.
When we covet, lie, steal, or harbor malice against a brother, we shatter the covenant of love intended to bind us together.
The Apostle Paul delivers the ultimate key to fulfilling God’s covenant in Romans 13:8: “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.”
Here are practical ways to honor God’s covenant today:
- Remember Our Shared Father: Treat every believer as a true brother or sister in Christ, discarding gossip, prejudice, and malice.
- Honor God’s Commandments Daily: Align your conduct with God’s moral law, recognizing that sin always hurts others.
- Refuse Treacherous Dealing: Be completely honest in your business, family, and church relationships, rejecting deceit and exploitation.
- Owe Only Love: Make active, self-sacrificing love your daily lifestyle, fulfilling the heart of God’s Word.

Today’s Confession:
I declare that I am a covenant-keeper, walking in genuine love toward all children of God!
I reject backbiting, treachery, slander, dishonesty, and every form of selfish ambition.
Because God is my Father and Creator, I honor His commandments and guard the peace of His Church.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, I owe no man anything except to love them, fulfilling the law of Christ in all my daily encounters, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
