Day 3 Ember Month Prayer for Divine Preservation: Protecting Your Going Out and Coming In (Psalm 121:8)
Date: Friday, September 11, 2026
Anchor Scripture: Psalm 121:8 — “The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
Welcome to Day 3 of our 30-Day Ember Month Prayer and Fasting Challenge. On Day 1, we learned how to secure our positioning inside the secret place of the Most High. On Day 2, we stood in intercession against the traps of human arrogance, police oppression, and dangerous road confrontations. Today, Friday, September 11, 2026, we focus our spiritual authority on a critical aspect of daily existence that many take for granted: the divine preservation of your going out and your coming in.
Every single day, millions of people step out of their homes to pursue livelihoods, attend market sessions, report to work, commute across states, and fulfill family obligations. Yet, in the spiritual realm, going out and returning home safely are two completely separate events. The devil frequently allows individuals to complete the first half of their journey—arriving at their destinations safely—only to ambush them on their return leg. To build a fortified shield over your daily movements, understanding the deeper biblical meaning of prayer equips you to enforce God’s covenant of protection over every highway, transit route, and daily commute throughout these Ember Months.
Exposition of Psalm 121:8: The Anatomy of Divine Preservation
Psalm 121 is historically known as one of the “Psalms of Ascent”—a collection of songs sung by Jewish pilgrims as they traveled dangerous mountain passes up to Jerusalem for religious feasts. The roads were notorious for steep cliffs, sudden weather shifts, and ruthless highway bandits hiding in caves. The pilgrims knew that neither their physical stamina nor their travel guards could guarantee absolute safety. Their ultimate confidence rested in God alone.
In verse 8, the Psalmist writes under Holy Ghost inspiration: “The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Let us examine the three vital dimensions of this scriptural promise:
1. The Hebrew Concept of “Shamar” (Preservation)
The word “preserve” in Hebrew is derived from Shamar, which means to hedge around, to guard meticulously, to keep watch over like an alert sentinel, and to protect from external injury. When God preserves your life, He places an invisible, impenetrable hedge of Holy Ghost fire around your vehicle, your body, and your movements. No demonic trap set on the asphalt can breach that divine hedge.
2. The Dual Realm: “Going Out” vs. “Coming In”
Notice that scripture specifically separates these two movements. “Going out” represents your morning departure, your initiative, your business ventures, and your transit toward your goal. “Coming in” represents your return journey, your evening retreat, the bringing home of your harvest, and your safe re-entry into your household. God promises comprehensive coverage that spans both the beginning and the completion of your day.
3. The Perpetual Covenant: “From This Time Forth and Forevermore”
God’s protection is not seasonal, temporary, or subject to expiration dates. It is a perpetual covenant. While the enemy sets seasonal calendars of destruction during September, October, November, and December, God’s covenant of preservation overrides every demonic timetable.
A Sobering Real-Life Example: Why Returning Home Requires Warfare
To truly grasp why Day 3 of our Ember Month prayer series focuses on this scripture, consider a tragic event that occurred recently in my home town during a major market day:
The Hometown Market Day Tragedy
Yesterday was the big market day in my hometown. A group of women gathered early in the morning, boarded commercial transport, and successfully arrived at the market. Some went to sell their farm produce, while others went to purchase goods for their families and businesses. Their “going out” was smooth and successful. They bought, sold, made profits, and concluded their commercial activities without any issues.
However, on their way back home, disaster struck. The commercial vehicle carrying them suffered a catastrophic road accident. Three of those women died instantly on the spot, while two others had both of their legs severely crushed and amputated in the hospital. They completed the first leg of their journey safely, but they were ambushed on their return leg.
This heartbreaking event reveals a profound spiritual truth that every believer must understand during the Ember Months: It is one thing to go out safely, and it is entirely another thing to return home alive.
You can wake up in sound health, navigate morning traffic, arrive at your office, market, school, or construction site without a scratch, yet still face severe spiritual hazards on your way back home. Why? Because during the final quarter of the year, demonic altars and occultic forces lay satanic traps specifically targeted at high-volume transit hours to harvest human lives, inflict lifelong disabilities, and plunge families into sudden mourning.

Dismantling Satanic Highway Traps in the Ember Months
Physical road accidents are often the physical manifestation of spiritual traps set in motion long before a vehicle even turns its engine on. In the kingdom of darkness, the Ember Months represent a season of ritual renewals, where blood sacrifices are demanded to sustain demonic altars.
These spiritual traps manifest on physical highways in several distinct ways:
- Sudden Mechanical Failures: Brakes failing unexpectedly on a steep descent, tire blowouts on smooth highways, or steering wheel locks that defy engineering logic.
- Spiritual Blindness & Distraction: Drivers suddenly losing focus, falling asleep at the wheel for two critical seconds, or experiencing temporary visual illusions that cause them to swerve into oncoming traffic.
- Recklessness of Other Road Users: Even if you drive carefully, an intoxicated, fatigued, or demonic driver coming from the opposite direction can drift into your lane.
- Highway Robbery and Violence: Ambushes by armed criminals, kidnappers, or erratic security personnel, as we addressed in our Day 2 devotional on the strife of tongues.
How do we counter these invisible hazards? We counter them by invoking Deuteronomy 28:6: “Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.” We do not step out of our houses with passive assumptions; we cover our journeys with aggressive, scripture-backed prayer!
Strategic Day 3 Prayer Points for Divine Preservation
Pray these points with holy anger against every road trap set by the enemy. Pray them for yourself, your spouse, your children, and every relative who travels for business or work.
Section A: Thanksgiving and Consecration of Daily Movements
- Father, I thank You for bringing me into Day 3 of this 30-day prayer journey. Thank You for preserving my life and my family members from January until this very moment.
- Lord, I commit my daily movements into Your hands. Wash me and my household with the Blood of Jesus, removing any sin that could give the enemy legal ground to attack our journeys.
- Father, according to Psalm 121:8, I dedicate every step, every commute, every flight, and every vehicle ride I shall take throughout these Ember Months to Your Holy Spirit.
Section B: Prayers for Divine Preservation of Your “Going Out”
- In the name of Jesus, I sanctify my going out! Whenever I step out of my door this season, the presence of God shall go before me as a consuming fire (Deuteronomy 9:3).
- Every trap of morning accidents, transit delays, or unexpected disasters designed to ruin my daily plans, be dismantled by Holy Ghost fire!
- I decree that I shall arrive safely at every destination I set out to reach—whether for business, work, market, or family obligations—in Jesus’ mighty name!
Section C: Prayers for Divine Preservation of Your “Coming In”
- Father, I place a double hedge of protection over my return journeys! The devil will not allow me to go out safely only to be ambushed on my way back home!
- I cancel every fatal road accident, head-on collision, and brake failure programmed against my return journeys during these Ember Months, by the Blood of Jesus!
- Every altar demanding blood on the highways in my state, my nation, or my town, consume them with Holy Ghost fire! No member of my family shall be used as a sacrifice!
- I decree that I shall not end up in a hospital bed, nor shall I suffer any physical disability, permanent injury, or limb loss in Jesus’ powerful name!
- Whenever I return home in the evening, I shall enter my house with joy, peace, testimonies, and financial increase, not with weeping or mourning!
Section D: Declarations of Total Exemption for Family and Commuters
- I extend this covenant of preservation to my spouse, my children, my parents, my siblings, and my relatives. None of them shall be victims of road calamities!
- I blind the eyes of highway robbers, kidnappers, and reckless drivers so that they cannot see or target any vehicle carrying me or my loved ones (Genesis 19:11).
- Lord, dispatch Your chief guardian angels to take charge over all my journeys by land, air, and sea throughout September, October, November, and December (Psalm 91:11).
- Thank You, Lord God Almighty, for answering my prayers today. I walk in absolute confidence knowing that my going out and my coming in are eternally preserved! In Jesus’ glorious name, Amen!
