To understand the spiritual reality of Proverbs 18:10, let me share a personal testimony from my life before I gave my heart fully to Jesus Christ. Years ago, before surrender to the Lord, I experienced frequent demonic attacks in my sleep. Night after night, I would experience terrifying nightmares where dark forces would physically press my chest, paralyze my body, and attempt to suffocate me in bed. During those terrifying moments, I would struggle with all my strength to call out the name “Jesus!” I would scream the name in my mind and try to speak it aloud, yet nothing would happen. The oppressive weight remained, the dark forces mocked my efforts, and deliverance never came. I was left exhausted, fearful, and spiritually confused.The Transformation of Spiritual Standing
However, everything changed when I gave my life to Jesus Christ, repented of my sins, and began striving daily to walk according to His word and commandments. Today, whenever any spiritual or physical attack attempts to arise and I call upon the name “Jesus,” salvation and deliverance come instantly! The moment the name leaves my lips, darkness flees, oppression breaks, and heavenly defense is established.
This contrast reveals a vital spiritual lesson: The Name of Jesus is not a magical incantation or a lucky charm; it is a spiritual fortress whose doors open only to those who walk in alignment with God’s righteousness.

Exposition of Proverbs 18:10: The Strong Tower and the Righteous
In ancient military architecture, a “strong tower” (Hebrew: Migdal-Oz) was the most fortified, impenetrable citadel built within a walled city. When enemy forces breached the outer gates and inner walls, the citizens and soldiers would flee into the strong tower. Once the massive iron doors of the tower were shut, no battering ram, arrow, or siege engine could reach those inside. They were completely safe. Solomon uses this powerful imagery to describe the spiritual reality of God’s Name. But look closely at the second half of Proverbs 18:10:Scripture does not say everyone who runs into it is saved; it explicitly specifies the righteous. Why?“The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.“
1. Sin Disables Your Spiritual Authority
As Christians, we often call upon the name of Jesus unconsciously whenever trouble strikes—during a car crash, an armed robbery, or a demonic nightmare. But sadly, because many live in secret compromise, disobedience, or unrepented sin, no salvation comes when they do so. Sin creates a spiritual blockade (Isaiah 59:1-2) that strips your voice of authority in the spirit realm.

In Acts 19:13-16, the seven sons of Sceva attempted to use the name of Jesus as a formula to cast out evil spirits. The demonic spirit answered them: “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?” The evil spirit then attacked them, leaving them naked and wounded. Demonic forces do not bow to the mere phonetic pronunciation of the name “Jesus”; they bow to the spiritual authority of Christ backing the person speaking His Name.

- I decree that whenever I call upon the name of Jesus in any physical crisis, road emergency, or unexpected danger, divine salvation shall manifest instantly!
