One of the most confusing journeys for many believers is the journey of discovering the spiritual gift God has deposited inside them.

Many people pray, fast, and wait for encounters, yet they still feel uncertain. But the truth is simple: God has never created a single believer without a purpose, and that purpose is always connected to a spiritual gift.

Every Christian carries something that Heaven expects them to use to edify the body of Christ. And the moment you identify that gift, your spiritual journey becomes clearer, your confidence grows, and your service to God becomes more effective.

You identify your spiritual gift by praying for God to manifest it in you, and then intentionally practicing the various spiritual gifts to see which one flows naturally with grace, accuracy, and ease. Spiritual gifts are activated both through prayer and through use.

Spiritual gifts come from God, so the first step to discovering yours is to ask Him to reveal it. Paul said,
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal” (1 Corinthians 12:7, KJV).
This means the Holy Spirit already has something He wants to manifest through you; you only need to ask, seek, and remain sensitive.

Many believers wait for a prophet to tell them their gift, but spiritual gifts come from God—not from human confirmation. You must personally cultivate a relationship that allows the Spirit to express Himself through you.

One thing many believers overlook is that spiritual gifts are not discovered by waiting alone—they are also discovered by practice.

From the beginning, I always noticed something unusual whenever I read the Scriptures: understanding came immediately. It was as if invisible hands were opening the pages of revelation to me.
While others struggled to interpret certain passages, I found myself seeing the depth and meaning with ease. At first I did not take this seriously, because I thought it was normal for everyone.

But something happened that confirmed the true nature of my gift.

The Encounter That Changed Everything

One night, I had an encounter. In the dream, a Bible was handed to me, and I was commanded to swallow it. I obeyed. Immediately after that experience, I began to have a series of dreams where I was taught deep revelations of Scripture. I attended classes, received teachings, and listened to instructions.

But each time I woke up, I could not remember a single thing I was taught. This bothered me. I prayed and asked God why heavenly teachings were being hidden from my memory.
Then the Spirit revealed the mystery to me:

“These teachings are stored in your spirit for future use. They will be activated when you stand to minister My word.”

That was when I understood that my spiritual gift was wisdom and teaching.
I didn’t discover it by chance—I discovered it by a combination of prayer, encounters, and observing how effortlessly the Spirit expressed Himself whenever I touched the Word of God.

The Activation of the Gift

And truly, as the Spirit said, each time I teach or minister, the messages begin to flow. I do not struggle. Scriptures connect. Revelations unfold. It is like a river that never runs dry.

That is how God confirmed my gift to me. And this is the same way He will confirm yours—through experiences that are consistent, spiritually natural, and Spirit-driven.

Signs That You Have Identified Your Spiritual Gift

Here are some signs that show a spiritual gift is truly yours:

You operate in it with ease and grace.
It gives you supernatural joy when you use it.
People are blessed, strengthened, and transformed by it.
The Spirit flows naturally whenever you practice it.
You feel spiritually alive when functioning in it.
You experience confirmations through dreams, encounters, or revelations.

When a gift is truly yours, you don’t force it—it flows. And even when you try to run from it, something in your spirit keeps pulling you back to it.

Biblical Examples of People Who Identified Their Gifts

1. Samuel – The Prophetic Gift Through Divine Revelation

Samuel discovered his gift the moment God called him by name while he slept (1 Samuel 3:4–10, KJV).
He didn’t know God’s voice before, but once he responded, the prophetic gift began to manifest.

2. Peter – His Apostolic Gift Through Boldness and Revelation

Peter’s gift was confirmed when he received divine revelation from the Father:
“Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:16–17, KJV)
Spiritual insight revealed his calling.

3. Paul – His Teaching and Apostolic Gift Through Encounter

Paul discovered his gift after his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:3–6, KJV).

The Holy Spirit is more willing to reveal your gift than you are willing to discover it.
Because every gift has a purpose, and God does not waste purpose.
